Mother's Day Weekend (Scott)

What an excellent Mother’s Day weekend! Saturday morning we picked my mom up and took her out for a special Mother’s Day tea at a little place called Tea & Teacups in Yorba Linda. Although a little frilly, the food was tasty, there was plenty of it (including a fat slice of lemon cake!), and, most importantly, my mom really seemed to enjoy it.

We spent Saturday afternoon with Dad Pool & Edie. We had the brilliant idea of catching the new Star Trek movie at the IMAX theater at the Spectrum. Apparently we weren’t alone in this stroke of genius, however, because when we showed up an hour before showtime we found a line stretching from the front of the theater all the way to the parking structure. The theater was huge though – it must hold a thousand people – so we still managed to grab some good seats, thanks to Ashlee’s tenacity. The movie was awesome – and the IMAX theater only made it more awesome.

We spent Sunday celebrating Mother’s Day with the Riggins. We had breakfast at Arthur’s – an Okie diner in Orange – and then spent the day lounging on the sand at Laguna Beach. Although the morning was a bit overcast, there was just enough sun to give me a serious burn on my legs and, oddly enough, my armpits. I swear I used sunblock, but I guess I didn’t lather up the armpit area enough. They’re a bit scorching at the moment.

All in all, it was an excellent weekend!
