Doing What I Do Best

Guest Commentary by, Ashlee

Hello all! Scott has been great at keeping you up to date on the happenings here in Olgii, while I've been planning our trip to Thailand. In case you're not familiar with Thailand, its located in Southeast Asia and looks like this:

We'll be there for a nice little break of 2 weeks from school, work, and, of course, the rousing Mongolian winter. Why didn't we think of this last year? We're planning to stay in Bangkok (the capital and in the center of the map) for a few days before heading out to sand and surf in Phuket (a large island near the mainland on the West Coast of Southern Thailand) and ferry-hopping to Koh Phi Phi (where "The Beach" was filmed), Krabi (on the Western Coast, where huge cliffs and rock formations jut out of the water), and maybe a couple more beaches in-between.

Aside from the excellent food, awesome views, and wonderful company, I'm most looking forward to taking overnight luxury trains and air-conditioned VIP buses on paved roads. You read that right folks; this is also a Peace Corps country, but they have pineapples and pavement. Wish us luck as we fight the weather to get to UB and plane hop around Asia to make it to our birthday haven. We'll try to post a few times while we're there and we'll definitely get photos up as soon as we're back in Olgii!

In the meantime, Happy Christmas, Merry Holidays, and a Super New Year to you all! I hope you keep it in the best way possible :)

And now, a word from Olive, the other reindeer:
